Not good for me July 28, 2010 M. Jiang (stockton, CA) I used Grado phones daily. So comparing with that, these one are quite bad. Worse is their fit to my ears (you may experience differently). I bought them to support Chinese hi-fi manufactures, but ended up returning them. I am not sure if these are defective, but I just could not get the good sound everyone is commenting on.
Fine for talk, not music June 15, 2010 Reader (Seattle, WA USA) The treble and mid tones are bright, clear and well defined. However, the bass is completely missing. I'm not talking about boom-box, bone jarring bass tones, just the normal bass tones in most music. That, in my view, is the major defect in these headphones. I think you'll feel as though you're not hearing half the music. They'll be fine for listening to talk radio.
Great for Flying, Office, Library, In-Laws. June 9, 2010 Christopher S. Moon (The Forests of Ozark) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned a previous pair of in-ear "noise canceling" high-end earphones (ER6i from Etymotic). These RE2's provide a much more natural sound to the ER6i's surgically accurate ones. My only complaint is that the wire is a bit thin. I jog with mine and I must've jerked the cord a bit and the left phone stopped working due to an improper connection with the jack lead-in. I just snipped it off and replaced it with a heavy duty one from Radioshack. However, it should be noted that Head-Direct let me know that I could've sent them in for a total replacement.
If you've ever had in-ear headphones before you know the feeling that prolonged wear can generate. I find that if I wear them for 2+ hours they get a bit uncomfortable. They are however awesome at "noise canceling" since they are essentially ear plugs. I wore them on my flight to Shanghai and had no problems drowning out babies, screams, sneezes, peanuts, Chinese movies, and pilot's warnings (whoops).
AMAZING for the price!! May 26, 2010 David Mann (Washington DC) These are EXCELLENT earbuds. First of all the packaging is really nice, and the double flanged eartips are really nice and sealing. To me they seem to isolate and reduce noise significantly and I havent had a pair as comfy as these. Out of the box, the sound quality is great. After warming them up, they are incredible. The bass isnt too strong, but it is still noticeable, and is perfect for all sorts of music. I was skeptical at first, but it ended up being an amazing deal. Plus these look sleep and not stupid. I am extremely glad I bought these. I RECCOMEND THEM TO ANYONE ON A BUDGET!!!!
Head Direct RE2 May 17, 2010 E. Glisch I combined these with some de-cored Shure Olives and an iAUDIO 7, which can play the FLAC audio format. These headphones sound great--they do a great job of creating the illusion of distance and soundstage, are extremely clear and crisp on the high end, and bring out a lot of recording details (such as Fazil Say humming in the background of one of his Mozart recordings, the zing of Terence Blanchard's trumpet in A Tale of God's Will, and the concert hall echo in a Graham Johnson recording of Gabriel Faure). For $30 you are essentially paying a one-time fee to experience a live concert or recording session wherever you take your mp3 player, given your mp3 player has decent sound quality (the iAUDIO 7 is probably a very good compliment to these earphones compared to, say, an iPod). There are probably better earbuds out there, but for those of us who don't feel like spending more than $50 on headphones, these are, based on my first impressions, a pretty nice steal.
