Product Description The HANCX77 is JVC's first in-ear style noise canceling headphones reflecting JVC's commitment to style and technology. It cancels up to an amazing 80% (more than 14dB at 120Hz) of background noise, and also features a unique contoured canal design earpiece that's slightly angled, allowing a natural and secure fit that provides maximum sound isolation. Because of the superb ambient noise seal, precise acoustic coupling to the eardrum can be employed, thereby lowering the volume required to achieve the full sonic impacat. The HANCX77 also features a monitor function that allows users to mute the sound for conversation or listening to announcements. Provided accessories include three different sizes ear pieces, dual plug adaptor, soft carrying case, and one AAA battery which runs the unit for approximately 70 hours.

Powerful bass February 20, 2010 Aaron Lalaian (Brazil) I liked the quality of the earphones and audio.
I have not had the opportunity to test the noise canceling on flights.
Unfortunately, the headphones are fixed on the drive and when I use just for music, I have to
take everything.
USELESS USELESS USELESS BUT NICE CASE December 23, 2009 M. Moran I will never understtand the claims made by some sellers or makers of products that simply do not work as described.
I bought thses to ease the background noise on the bus I take to work. I lost my sony headphones and was a a little low on cash. Well I got what I paid for, a nice case but a useless product that made the sound worse on my unit thaN any other earphones I used. No noise reduction just some kind of sound diminuation in general.
Elaborate and useless but as I said a NICE CASE.
SAVE AND BUY THE SONY.
Works reasonably well October 22, 2009 IronReader (Bethesda, MD United States) I don't know that the noise canceling features work terribly well - you can tell that its on - but its not too perceptible. However, its a very compact unit, the sound in loud places is clear (e.g., trains and planes), and its comfortable. Unlike big over the ear units this fits nicely in the ear and I can turn my head to the side or sleep on my side with it on. Concert sound, maybe not, but a good alternative in loud places or where your bluetooth stereo can't be used.
Disapointing September 20, 2009 Troy (Oklahoma USA) Active noise cancellation has been around nearly as long as helicopters (as that is a primary use).
With that in mind, I certainly expected more.
If you would like to listen to music with cancellation, these might be for you (or you could use your existing headphones and simply turn up the volume).
If you are hoping for quiet, you will not find it with these.
Although they do provide some noise reduction for some sounds, you will be far better served with a cheap set of earplugs.
Misleading and useless piece o July 25, 2009 Jor-el (France, Paris) Hi,
i bought this product thinking that combining in-ear phones and active noise cancelling could really work out in creating a silent environnement in a very light and small package.
Also I liked the design.
I was so wrong!!!
Comparing it to a Sennheiser PXC300 which i have, the JVC is a huge disappointment there is absolutely no active noise reduction but a constant hum that tries to cover outside sound.
I have tried this set on planes, tubes , in the street, at work, in the library,... doesn't cancel any sound at all.
and on top of that, I get some static sparks in my ears which do hurt
Conclusion : Bad and misleading product from "JVC" and please stay away from it.
I would have given 0 stars if i could, but i guess it deserves 1 star because it has a nice pouch and both plugs for plane and Hi-fi stereo amplifier.
